Talc is used in many industries, including papermaking, plastics, rubber, food, electrical cables, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Finely ground talc is used as a cosmetic (talcum powder), as a lubricant and as a filler in papermaking.
E553b is a farm and food-grade additive made from Talc, which is composed of hydrated magnesium silicate and used as an anti-caking, coating or release agent. Our Talc complies with purity regulations, thus is contamination and asbestos-free. Its hydrophobic qualities repel water and aid in defying moisture absorption, for a dry anti-caking product. It is also resistant to degradation induced by high temperatures, thus suitable for food processing and suitable as an anti-friction agent. In the farm and food grade industry Talc can also be used for rice, processed meat, spices and cheese.
Its Organophilic properties are suitable for use as a thickening agent for oil-based formulations in cosmetic products or oil-based suspensions in pharmaceutical products, thus repelling water and making cosmetic or pharmaceutical products tailored to your needs!
Talc can be used as a filler, carrier or bulking agent, for pharmaceutical or nutraceutical formulations, as the dosage of many vitamins or active pharmaceutical ingredients is only present in small amounts (micrograms), making it unsuitable for oral intake. Talc can aid in bulking, carrying or filling any APIs. Talcs cohesive forces aid in holding and stabilising the active pharmaceutical ingredients.
